    Applications being accepted from Greater New Orleans nonprofits for Super Bowl LIX Legacy Grant Program

    METAIRIE, La. ( WGNO ) — Local stakeholders gathered at the Ochsner Sports Performance Center to announce the launch of the Super Bowl LIX Legacy Grant Program.

    The mission of Impact 59 Powered by Entergy is to give back to local organizations that are making a positive impact in New Orleans-area communities.

    “For each year, the NFL and the Super Bowl Host Committee work together to invest in the community and leave a legacy of philanthropy in each community in which the game is played,” said Gayle Benson, the owner of New Orleans Saints and Pelicans.

    $3 million dollars will be awarded to nonprofit organizations that are located in the Greater New Orleans area.

    “This is something that has grown since the last time that we hosted Super Bowl,” said Jay Cicero, the president and CEO of the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation. “There were only $2 billion in grants, and now, we’ve upped it to $3 million in grants.”

    Grants range from $25,000 to $250,000 and will be awarded to organizations that provide programming in specific areas.

    Chairman and CEO of Entergy Corporation Drew Marsh listed, “youth development, workforce training, education, health and wellness and equity and inclusion.”

    Applications are now being accepted through Aug. 23 and will be reviewed by a grant selection committee.

    “We’re hopeful that these funds will make a difference in their lives,” said Cicero.

    Super Bowl LIX takes place Sunday, Feb. 9, 2025.
