WEBSTER, La. ( KTAL/KMSS ) — On Tuesday, Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office agents seized large amounts of illegal narcotics with a total street value of under $300,000.

The investigation included 17 pounds of methamphetamine, five pounds of cocaine, 40 pounds of marijuana, and several thousand fentanyl pills, according to the news release.

Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office (WPSO) began its undercover operation by purchasing a small amount of illegal narcotics. The operation involved multiple agencies to enforce warrants on 13 federal indictments for conspiracy to distribute drugs.

WPSO underscored that the 13 indictments in Webster Parish stretched from Springhill to Heflin.

“This is an investigation that mushroomed into a drug bust of major proportions,” Sheriff Jason Parker said in the news release, “Our narcotics unit is constantly surveilling suspected dealers, and we make buys when we can. We never stop there. We always try to take it up the ladder to the major sources, and that’s what happened in this case.”

Captain Bobby Igo III, head of the WPSO Narcotics Unit, expressed that a significant number of man-hours were dedicated to the year-long investigation.

“The punishment for these conspiracy cases will be swift and severe,” Igo stated in the news release.

All suspects named in the indictments have been taken into custody, Igo said. The names of the arrested individuals have not been released.

“We have put some major players in illegal drugs out of business in Webster Parish, but this doesn’t mean we’re going to rest on our success,” Sheriff Parker said. “Our drug investigations are ongoing.”

Law enforcement agencies that assisted in the arrests include the Minden Police Department, DEA, the Louisiana National Guard counter-drug division, Bienville Parish Sheriff’s Office, Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office, DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office, Bossier City Police Department, and the Louisiana State Police.
