( KTAL/KMSS ) – A Louisiana corrections officer was arrested for allegedly engaging in an unprofessional relationship with an inmate, according to the Louisiana Department of Corrections.

La. DOC officials said 22-year-old Ja’Camry Davis of Baton Rouge was arrested for an alleged inappropriate relationship with one inmate and smuggling cellphones in for another inmate housed at Elayn Hunt Correctional Center (EHCC).

An investigation by EHCC uncovered the alleged actions during questioning with the officer who resigned from her post during questioning.

Davis was booked into the Iberville Parish Prison on one count of malfeasance in office and three counts of introducing contraband into a penal institution. She had been employed at the prison since August 22, 2022.

it's fairly common for sketchy hires for prison corrections officers. I worked 2 years for a prison and while I was there hearing about inappropriate conduct among the staff was far more common than you would believe. I saw many officers let go over sexual relations smuggling in drugs and much more serious offenses. I don't believe the state screened the applicants very well but just look at the political leadership and the problems become apparent
