NEW ORLEANS ( WGNO ) — Apolline is a restaurant featuring fresh, local ingredients that are sure to make your taste buds happy.

As soon as you walk into Apolline , you’re going to feel right at home. The restaurant has been serving up Louisiana flavors with global influences for over a decade, and during Coolinary, you are going to get to try a few of their dishes.

Located at 4729 Magazine St. stands a “beautifully renovated” shotgun double.

“We’ve done Coolinary for many years and we love Coolinary. It is great to have additional business in the month of August,” said the Owner of Apolline Restaurant Keith Andrews.

Starting with appetizers, the strawberry salad, which is on both the lunch and dinner menu, is a very refreshing summer salad. It has arugula, fresh strawberries, toasted pistachios and fresh mint and it’s topped with a strawberry vinaigrette.

For an entree, is a premium fried catfish served over green beans and stone ground grits and topped with a brown butter pecan vinaigrette.

“For dinner, we have our cold, smoked grilled pork chop. It’s an item that’s a signature dish for us. It’s been on our menu since we opened 12 years ago,” said Andrews.

The pork chop is first brined, adding some moisture to the pot and then cold smoked to add smoke flavor. It has a rub on the outside with their housemade Cajun spice blend then grilled to order and served with sweet potatoes, roasted with onions and jalapenos marchand de vin and crispy onion strings.

“My absolute favorite is the pork chop. It’s been on the menu for 12 years. It is a big favorite with our regular customers. The pork comes out so juicy and succulent and it pairs so well with the marchand de vin and the roasted sweet potatoes,” said Andrews.

Also on the dinner menu is the crispy confit chicken that is slow-roasted in duck fat. Just prior to serving, it is broiled under the broiler rendering the skin on the outside nice and crispy. It’s served with roasted garlic, mashed potatoes and collard greens.

“We pull in influences that are global in addition to using local ingredients and Creole favorites. So you’re going to leave very happy and very relaxed and very satisfied,” said Andrews.

Brunch is three courses for 40 bucks per person. Dinner is three courses for $50 per person. Both include a dessert.

Go ahead and add Apolline to your list of must-try places during Coolinary.
