IRVINE, Calif. ( WGNO ) — The injury bug continues to bite the New Orleans Saints during training camp in California.

New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen told reporters Thursday that rookie left tackle, Taliese Fuaga, left practice early with a back injury.

“Looked to me like prior to even starting practice, looked to me like he was kind of stretching his back out maybe a little bit. So I don’t know if that was bothering him beforehand,” said New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen.

When discussing Fuaga’s status for Sunday’s preseason game in San Francisco, Allen added,” I would say if he is a healthy body and capable of playing, then he’ll play in the game. If he’s not, then then he won’t.”

Fuaga made his New Orleans Saints debut in Saturday’s preseason opener and the Oregon State product did not disappoint.

Fuaga played in the team’s first four series and did not allow a quarterback pressure on 12 passing attempts. Those numbers are courtesy of Pro Football Focus.

Running back Alvin Kamara has also missed practice time this week with a back issue of his own. Allen says it’s something he has dealt with in the past and his absences are not contract-related.

The New Orleans Saints will play their second preseason game Sunday night at 7 p.m. against the 49ers.
