Former Saints Quarterback Drees Brees pays tribute to WGNO legend Ed Daniels

NEW ORLEANS ( WGNO ) — Former New Orleans Saints Quarterback Drew Brees knew WGNO Sports Anchor Ed Daniels , and on Thursday, the day of Ed’s funeral, Brees paid a tribute to him with a special video message.

In the message Drew Brees said, “In memory of Ed Daniels. He was a true professional, a guy who I knew loved his job. He loved coming to work everyday, having a chance to be around the people he was around. It always felt like he was with us on a journey with us as a team. It always felt like he took a lot of pride in his job and really valued the relationships around the building. I certainly valued my relationship with him.”

Ed Daniels covered countless Saints games over the course of several decades, including when they were the 2009 Super Bowl Champions.

Ed Daniels’ funeral services were held on Aug. 22 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Metairie, and then a reception for family and friends took place at Rock-N-Bowl.
