NEW ORLEANS ( WGNO ) — Tulane fans were seen taking over the streets of Uptown for the 2024 college football season opener.

“Very excited,” Noah, a student at Tulane said. “I’m going to get there early. Oh, yeah. Tailgate before with ADPi, and we’re going to have a great time.”

The Green Wave took on the Southeastern Louisiana University Lions in the first ever Uptown Kickoff.

“Pretty exciting,” student Jake LaDuca said. “I feel, you know, they’re starting to set up the field over there for everyone to enter. And it’s really cool to see it again, to be back and see it.”

“Yeah, I’m super excited,” student Julia Freedman said. “All my friends are going to hang out before and then go together.”

Spirits were high on campus with many fans predicting Tulane will come out on top. The Green Wave has never lost to the lions before, and the team finished off a stellar season last year.

“We had a decently good season last semester, so I hope we can keep our momentum,” said Noah.
