According to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened around 4 a.m. when a St. Tammany Parish man was traveling westbound on I-12 between the Pumpkin Center exit and the DPS Weigh Station exit.

While driving, the man reportedly heard three gunshots followed by the sound of the sliding glass of his pickup truck’s rear windshield shattering, and a feeling of numbness in his right arm.

After realizing he had been shot, the man looked in his rear view mirror and saw a vehicle exiting to Pumpkin Center. He then reportedly kept driving on into Livingston Parish where he pulled into a gas station to contact authorities.

The man was treated and released from a local hospital on the same day.
