    Suspect in New Orleans Labor Day weekend fatal shooting arrested in St. Bernard Parish

    NEW ORLEANS ( WGNO ) — A suspect has been arrested in connection with a murder that took place in the early morning hours of Sunday, Sept. 1.

    According to the New Orleans Police Department, officers responded to reports of a shooting , which occurred at the intersection of Baudin and South Solomon streets, around 2:45 a.m. It is believed the incident stemmed from a large fight that happened in the parking lot of Shamrock Bar and Grill, located in the 4100 block of South Carrollton Avenue.

    NOPD officials said that four women were initially found with gunshot wounds, and a fifth woman, later identified as 29-year-old Raven Francis, arrived at a hospital around the same time. She later died from her wounds. The other four women were treated at the scene by New Orleans EMS.

    On Wednesday, Sept. 4, it was reported that Detective James Fyfe with the NOPD identified 24-year-old Chante Mark as a suspect in connection with the murder and obtained a warrant for her arrest.

    NOPD officials say that Mark was found on Wednesday morning at a hotel in Chalmette and was booked into the St. Bernard Parish Jail as a fugitive out of Orleans Parish.

    The investigation is ongoing and the NOPD reports that “more arrests are imminent.”

    On Thursday, Mark appeared in court and a judge set her bond for $1 million. She is facing one count of second-degree murder and will be rebooked on an aggravated battery charge.
