    Man killed in St. Bernard Parish crash

    ST. BERNARD PARISH, La. ( WGNO ) — Troopers with the Louisiana State Police are investigating a crash that left a man dead in St. Bernard Parish on Wednesday, Sept. 4.

    The LSP reported that the crash happened on Louisiana 46 near Francke Place around 8:30 p.m.

    LSP officials said 23-year-old Kerry Guerra Jr. was driving a Chevrolet east on Louisiana 46 while a Dodge was driving in front of him. The Chevrolet then reportedly hit the back of the Dodge, drove off the road and hit a tree.

    Guerra suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

    According to the LSP, Guerra was not restrained at the time of the crash.

    The driver of the Dodge was reportedly wearing a seatbelt and was uninjured.

    LSP officials said the investigation is ongoing, and routine toxicology samples were collected.
