NEW ORLEANS ( WGNO ) — The New Orleans Saints kickoff their regular season in the Superdome on Sunday, so WGNO’s Kenny Lopez talked to model and actress Olivia Culpo, who’s married to a famous football star, about the best ways to tailgate.
“I would say you have to get out there five hours before the game,” Culpo said.
“You want to have good food and good drinks. Pre-mixed drinks are best. Obviously, any type of sliders are good, finger foods are easy to eat,” Culpo said.
She also suggests bringing seats for everyone to sit on at the tailgating parties, and to make sure to not forget trash bags.
“We have a few pre-game traditions. My mother-in-law makes us do a pyramid. She insists on it. She’s superstitious, so you are getting on your knees and doing a pyramid. I’m usually the top,” Culpo said.
While it’s still too early to know what teams will come out on top this season, she’s already excited for the Super Bowl in New Orleans.
“Such a fun city. Already so vibrant, and it is made for big events,” she said.
Culpo also said she would love to be in a Super Bowl commercial.
“I would want to be in a commercial for PayPal debit card, because you get five percent cash back on up to $1,000. I’ll explain the girl math of it,” she said.
As Miss Universe 2012, she had to answer pageant questions, so we had one question ready for her.
What makes tailgating so special?
“Football is about camaraderie, family, community. Tailgating is how you exercise that, and that’s why America needs more tailgates,” Culpo said.
