    City of New Orleans discusses Tropical Storm Francine preparations

    NEW ORLEANS ( WGNO ) — City of New Orleans officials have held a news conference to discuss preparation ahead of Tropical Storm Francine’s landfall.

    Mayor LaToya Cantrell was joined by Director of New Orleans Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness Collin Arnold, the Emergency Preparedness Team and the New Orleans City Council.

    Tropical Storm Francine is expected to make landfall on the state’s coast on Wednesday, Sept. 11 as a Category 1 hurricane.

    The WGNO weather team is reporting that Francine now has sustained winds of 50 mph with the potential to ramp up.

    Entergy Louisiana prepares for Tropical Storm Francine

    Five to seven inches of rain is expected to fall as a result of the weather system with higher levels possible in localized areas with flash flooding expected across Southeast Louisiana.

    The conference happened on Monday, Sept. 9, at 3:30 p.m. in New Orleans City Hall.
