    Floodgate closures occurring in response to Tropical Storm Francine

    JEFFERSON PARISH, La. ( WGNO ) — In response to Tropical Storm Francine, floodgates and locks are being closed in various parishes around Louisiana. So far, the following information has been released on the matter:

    Terrebonne Parish

    Closing on Monday, Sept. 9, and Tuesday, Sept. 10.

    • Grand Bayou
    • Bayou Grand Caillou
    • Pointe-aux-Chenes
    • Lower Dularge
    • HNC
    • Cocodrie
    • Falgout Canal

    Highway 56 and Highway 665 road gates will also reportedly close on Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday morning.

    St. Bernard Parish

    The Caernarvon and Dupree locks will remain open on Monday, Sept. 9.

    It is unknown if the locks will remain open on Tuesday, Sept. 10. Parish officials ask that actions to move boats to safe harbor be taken immediately.

    Plaquemines Parish

    The Empire Safe Harbor is open as of Monday, Sept. 9. Any vessels seeking safety from the upcoming storm can enter into it.

    St. Charles Parish

    The Sellers Canal Sector Gate and the Paradis Gate will close at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10.

    The Des Allemands Boat Launch under the US Highway 90 Bridge will close at 4 p.m., also on Tuesday.

    Jefferson Parish

    Non-essential flood gates along Peters Road, in Marrero, are expected to start closing on Tuesday morning, and the Harvey Canal and Bayou Segnette sector gates are expected to close on Tuesday evening.
