Some mandatory evacuations issued in Plaquemines Parish

PLAQUEMINES PARISH, La. ( WGNO ) — Plaquemines Parish leaders announced plans ahead of Tropical Storm Francine that include some mandatory evacuations.

“Tomorrow [Tuesday,] mandatory evacuation at 7 a.m. That will be [areas] outside of the flood protection, which is Lake Hermitage, Happy Jack, Myrtle Grove, Tiewater Road and Venice, White Ditch to Phoenix, Wood Park and Grand Bayou. Tomorrow, voluntary evacuation at 2 p.m. [will effect] all Eastbank and Venice north to Alliance.”

This decision comes amidst other mandatory evacuations in southeastern Louisiana, including areas of Jefferson Parish as well as Terrebonne Parish .
