    Jefferson Parish now eligible for FEMA assistance in wake of Hurricane Francine

    JEFFERSON PARISH, La. ( WGNO ) — Jefferson Parish homeowners, business owners and renters have been deemed eligible for FEMA Individual Assistance following Hurricane Francine.

    Parish officials announced Tuesday, Sept. 24 that Jefferson Parish joins a list of others previously approved for assistance in the wake of Francine’s landing in Terrebonne Parish as a Category 2 hurricane on Sept. 11.

    The storm brought with it strong winds, storm surge and flooding leaving behind downed trees and power outages in its aftermath across Southeast Louisiana.

    Other Louisiana parishes receiving assistance are:

    • Ascension Parish
    • Assumption Parish
    • Lafourche Parish
    • St. Charles Parish
    • St. James Parish
    • St. John the Baptist Parish
    • St. Mary Parish
    • Terrebonne Parish

    The assistance will provide Francine survivors aid with serious needs, displacement, temporary lodging, basic home repair coats, personal property loss and other disaster-related needs.

    Additionally, businesses of all sizes including landlords, private nonprofits, homeowners and renters can apply for low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration.

    To apply for assistance, visit the Disaster Assistance website , download the FEMA app or call the FEMA helpline at 1-800-621-3362 between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m.
