    Airlines issuing travel alerts ahead of Tropical Storm Helene

    TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Multiple major airlines have issued travel alerts or advisories ahead of Tropical Storm Helene.

    United Airlines

    United Airlines has issued a travel alert that impacts eight airports in Florida. Those airports include the Sarasota/Bradenton and Tampa airports.

    Passengers who bought a ticket before Monday, Sept. 23 for a flight traveling on Sept. 24-27 may rebook without a change fee through Friday, Oct. 4.

    Delta Air Lines

    Delta Air Lines has a travel advisory covering 10 airports in Florida, including both Sarasota and Tampa. Select airports in Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Mexico and Cuba are also affected.

    If you’re scheduled to fly through one of these airports between Wednesday and Friday, Sept. 25-27, you can rebook tickets by Monday, Sept. 30.

    JetBlue Airways

    JetBlue Airways has issued a travel alert for four Florida and one Georgia airports, including Sarasota and Tampa.

    The airline will waive change fees, cancel fees, and fare differences for customers traveling on Thursday and Friday, Sept. 26-27. They can rebook for flights leaving by Wednesday, Oct. 2.

    Southwest Airlines

    Southwest Airlines’ travel advisory covers eight Florida airports from Tuesday through Friday, Sept. 24-27, including both Sarasota/Bradenton and Tampa.

    Two international airports—Cancun and Havana—are also affected for flights on Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 24-25.

    Passengers with reservations traveling through impacted airports can rebook at no charge within two weeks of their original travel date.

    Frontier Airlines

    Frontier Airlines has a travel alert for passengers flying in or out of Cancun on Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 25-26. They have not issued an advisory for any Florida airports at this time.

    Spirit Airlines

    Spirit Airlines has issued a travel advisory for four Florida airports and one airport in Cancun, Mexico, for flights traveling from Sept. 25-27. Tampa International Airport is included.

    Fare differences will be waived for passengers making changes through Oct. 2.

    American Airlines

    American Airlines has issued a travel alert affecting 23 airports, including 16 in Florida. Both Tampa and Sarasota/Bradenton are affected.

    Passengers can have their change fee waived if they bought any ticket before Sept. 23 for travel between Sept. 24-27. The rescheduled flight must take place between Sept. 24 and Oct. 4 and must be for the same travel origin and destination.

    Changes must be made by Sept. 27.

    Breeze Airways

    Breeze Airways issued a travel alert for five Florida airports, including both Tampa and Sarasota/Bradenton, for travel from Wednesday to Friday, Sept. 25-27.

    Anyone with a flight booked on those dates for an affected airport can move to the next available flight or anytime within two weeks of the original dates without additional charges.

    Anyone who wishes to cancel their flight instead can get a full flight credit redeemable for 24 months from the original date.

    At the time of writing, Allegiant Air has not issued travel alerts.
