New Orleans rapper Choppa in recovery following car crash

NEW ORLEANS ( WGNO ) — Famed New Orleans rapper Choppa was hospitalized after being involved in a crash on Saturday, Sept. 21.

His team posted about the incident on social media where they reported his fiancé was also in the car at the time of the crash.

The post reads:

The family wanted to share that Choppa and his fiancé was in a car accident Saturday night. His fiancé is okay but he is still in the hospital. By God’s grace, he is in the early stages of recovery. Thank you all for your encouraging messages and prayers; they mean a lot to him. He still needs plenty of rest, so we appreciate your understanding!

Darwin Turner aka “Choppa” is known for hit songs including “I Came to Represent,” “Wobble for Me,” and what has been used as one of the New Orleans Saints anthem, “Choppa Style.”

He’s also known for collaborating with other local artists including Master P, Mystikal and Slikk the Shocker.

New Orleans celebrities such as Mia X, Mr. Meana with PNC and the New Orleans Saints are sending well wishes with commenting uplifting messages on the post.

Details of the crash are unknown.
