    Entergy Louisiana, Cleco send crews to Georgia, Florida ahead of Hurricane Helene

    NEW ORLEANS ( WGNO ) — Entergy Louisiana and Cleco are sending crews to areas expected to be impacted by Hurricane Helene.

    WGNO meteorologists report that Helene is now forecast to make landfall as a category 4 hurricane along the Florida Big Bend Coast.

    On Wednesday, Entergy Louisiana officials said 130 lineworkers and support personnel have been sent to assist Georgia Power with its response to the potential impacts of Hurricane Helene.

    According to Entergy Louisiana, workers from New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lake Charles and Monroe are included in the crews heading to Georgia.

    Cleco officials announced that five line crews with about 40 line mechanics are traveling to Pensacola, Florida to prepare for Helene.

    Cleco crews will assist Florida Power & Light with its storm response. Three Cleco project coordinators, distribution operations leadership and a fleet mechanic will also assist with response efforts.

    Cleco workers from Covington, Pineville, Rosepine, New Iberia, Bunkie and Opelousas will be included in the crews heading to Florida.
