    One person dead in Wednesday night Uptown shooting

    NEW ORLEANS ( WGNO ) — One person is dead following a shooting that happened on Wednesday night, Sept. 25, in the Leonidas neighborhood.

    According to the New Orleans Police Department, the shooting occurred around 9:53 p.m. in the 1900 block of Leonidas Street.

    Responding officers said they were flagged down by someone reporting a man down at the address.

    Upon arrival, NOPD officers found the man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was later pronounced dead on the scene by EMS and the incident is now being investigated as a homicide.

    NOPD continues search for escaped juvenile

    The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity after an autopsy is done and the family is notified.

    No further information was provided.
