LAKE CHARLES, La. ( KLFY ) — A Lake Charles man is charged with murder after shooting his neighbor in a dispute, and then calling 911 to report it, authorities said.

According to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, Christian K. Bourriague, 26, of Lake Charles, called 911 at approximately 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and told dispatchers he shot his neighbor after he charged at him in his driveway.

Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Bennie Lane in Lake Charles. When deputies arrived, they located David K. Fife, 56, of Lake Charles, dead, with multiple apparent gunshot wounds, officials said.

Detectives said they were told Bourriague and Fife were involved in a verbal altercation. Fife grabbed a weapon and began walking toward Bourriague, who was in possession of a handgun. Fife put his weapon down but continued to approach Bourriague, at which time Bourriague shot Fife, authorities said.

Bourriague is charged with second degree murder. Bond details were not released. The investigation is continuing, officials said.
