    Teen escapee from New Orleans found, arrested in Baton Rouge

    NEW ORLEANS ( WGNO ) — The teenager accused of escaping from the Juvenile Justice Intervention Center in New Orleans has been captured.

    17-year-old Carlos Taylor escaped police custody on Monday, Sept. 23, at 2:15 p.m. Officers then issued a “Be On the Look Out” alert after being notified of his escape.

    On Thursday, Sept. 26, U.S. Marshals were able to track Taylor down with the help of the New Orleans Police Department Violent Offender Warrant Squad (VOWS) and found him in Baton Rouge.

    Fatal officer involved shooting under investigation in St. Charles Parish

    Taylor was arrested on charges of simple carjacking and simple escape. This is in addition to his original charges of aggravated assault with a firearm, illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile, illegal use of a weapon and aggravated criminal damage to property, said officers.

    He is currently in custody in Baton Rouge but will be extradited to New Orleans.

    The investigation remains ongoing. No further details are available at this time.
