ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. ( WGNO ) — A motorcyclist is dead following a fatal crash that occurred in St. Tammany Parish on Thursday, Sept. 26.

The initial investigation reportedly showed that a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado was heading south on Highway 41 while a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by 63-year-old Richard Nash, of Bush, was heading north.

For reasons that are still being investigated, the driver of the Silverado turned left, into the path of the motorcycle. The motorcycle then hit the passenger side of the truck, and Nash, despite wearing a DOT approved helmet, sustained serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died.

The driver of the Chevrolet wasn’t injured in the crash. It’s not suspected that he was impaired, however, routine toxicology samples were taken as part of the ongoing investigation.
