One dead following Central City hit and run crash

NEW ORLEANS ( WGNO ) — A person is dead following a hit and run crash that occurred in the nighttime hours of Friday, Sept. 27.

According to the New Orleans Police Department, the crash happened around 10:30 p.m. when a man reportedly walked into oncoming traffic at the intersection of South Claiborne Avenue and Thalia Street.

The victim was declared dead on scene by EMS. The man’s cause of death and identity will be determined by the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office.

Investigators don’t currently have information on the vehicle involved and are still trying to determine how and why the crash happened.
