FNF Southern Quality Ford Dealers Scholar-Athlete of the Week: St. Martin’s Cole LaCoste

METAIRIE, La. ( WGNO ) — St. Martin’s Cole LaCoste is a student of the game on the football field and a diligent student in the classroom as an AP scholar with an impressive resume that features a 4.51 GPA and 27 on the ACT.

“If I do well in the classroom, then it opens a lot of more opportunities for me in college, like scholarships and stuff, and I think it’s just like good for me to have a knowledge of a lot of things,” said St. Martin’s senior Cole LaCoste.

Cole is also involved in many things outside of athletics as the senior representative in Student Government, and the vice president of the Black Student Union.

He also serves his community through volunteer work at Take Paws and Son of a Saint.

“I just want to give back to my community. When I worked at Son of a Saint, I feel like that was very important to me. So I can help my community and speak to the kids there,” added LaCoste.

Cole plans to study sports medicine here in Louisiana at schools like LSU or Tulane and has already taken part in pre-college programs specializing in cancer research.

“Cole’s incredible. And you know what’s really cool about him is he’s involved in so many different things. He’s literally doing cancer research and all of these medical doctor institutes during the summertime and things of that nature. He’s volunteering all around the city and the metro area, and none of it really interferes with his time as a football player here. So how he manages that and balances all of it, it’s pretty incredible. And it’s pretty obvious that the type of maturity and work ethic and discipline that he’s showing right now. He’s definitely going to be prepared to go on to college and then move on to medical school and achieve his dream as a doctor,” said head coach Kevin Dizer.
