    Former Louisiana State Police sergeant arrested, accused of ‘skip scanning’

    ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. ( WGNO ) — A former sergeant with the Louisiana State Police has been arrested after allegedly being caught “skip-scanning” at a store in the Covington area.

    According to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, 50-year-old Huey Galmiche was arrested by detectives with the property crimes division on Wednesday, Oct. 2, after allegedly committing the crimes while on duty and dressed in his state police uniform.

    Galmiche was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center and faces charges of misdemeanor theft and malfeasance in office.

    “Sgt. Huey Galmiche resigned his position with Louisiana State Police effective today,” said Colonel Robert Hodges, state police superintendent. “Upon learning of the ongoing investigation, Sgt. Galmiche was immediately placed on administrative leave with all his law enforcement property recovered by Troop L supervisors.”
