TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. ( WGNO ) — The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating two separate homicides that both occurred on Friday, Oct. 2.

Just before 9 a.m., the officers with the Independence Police Department were called to an apartment complex to investigate the first homicide.

On scene, the IPD found a woman who appeared to have been shot and killed inside one of the duplex units. The IPD then requested the help of the TPSO in the investigation.

The victim was identified as 18-year-old Le-Airrah Duppard. Detectives believe she was standing near the window of the apartment when a bullet came through the window and hit her. She is not believed to have been the intended target.

The TPSO was called to investigate the second shooting just before 9:30 p.m. in the 12000 block of Oak Hill Road in Kentwood. A fight had reportedly happened and, on arrival, deputies found 38-year-old Renaldo Brumfield, who had been shot multiple times and did not survive.
