    One hospitalized, another killed in 9th Ward shooting

    NEW ORLEANS ( WGNO ) — One man was hospitalized and another killed following a shooting that occurred in the 9th Ward region of New Orleans on Saturday, Oct. 5.

    According to the New Orleans Police Department, officers responded to a call at 2 p.m. that reported a shooting in the 2300 block of Louisa Street.

    The initial investigation showed two men suffering from gunshot wounds. They were taken to a local hospital by emergency services where one of them was later pronounced dead and the other remains in stable condition.

    Further investigation revealed that the two victims drove to the scene and were approached by an unknown person. It is believed by investigators that an argument ensued and the unknown person fired multiple shots into the car, hitting both of the victims.

    Detectives are working to identify the responsible party in the incident as well as a motive.

    The Orleans Parish Coroner’s office will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death and officially identify the victim. Announcement of the information will come from the coroner’s office.

    Two homicides being investigated in Tangipahoa Parish
