FNF Southern Quality Ford Dealers Scholar-Athlete of the Week: Salmen’s Desmond Beasley

SLIDELL, La. — Desmond Beasley leads by example both on the football field and in the classroom as a team captain and All-District performer for the football team with a 4.39 GPA and 28 on the ACT.

“I know the importance of academics because it catapults you into the future and whatever your goals may be. It’s very important to get you on the right track because without getting the right grades, scores, and all of that. You can’t pursue the goals that you have in life,” said Salmen’s Desmond Beasley.

Desmond is an honors student who passed his advanced placement and dual enrollment courses.

He is also part of the National Honors Society and a four-year member of the St. Tammany Parish Schools Superintendents Advisory Committee.

Desmond’s college plans are unknown at this time, but he is actively being recruited by Ivy League schools.

Head coach Eric Chuter is confident he will excel where he goes.

“Desmond Beasley is an unbelievable human being,” said Salmen head coach Eric Chuter.

“Not only is he a great football player, but he is a great kid. I wish we had 20 or 30 more Desmonds out here at practice. You know, he’s the type of kid that’s a leader in the classroom. He’s a leader in the locker room. he’s a leader in the weight room and the community. He’s someone that I can always count on to do everything right,” added Chuter.
