HAMMOND, La. ( WGNO ) — A second suspect has been arrested following an investigation into a fatal shooting that occurred in Hammond on Oct. 9.

According to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, on Wednesday, 35-year-old Johnathan Blackwell was arrested and charged with second-degree murder after allegedly being linked to a fatal shooting at a mobile home in the 41000 block of W Interstate 55 Service Road.

When deputies arrived on scene, after being called around 2 p.m., they found 35-year-old Terrell Fontenette, of Baton Rouge, dead inside the home. TPSO detectives said they learned that the shooting was allegedly the result of an argument between Fontenette and Blackwell, the homeowner’s ex-boyfriend.

Blackwell is now facing the additional charge of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. He was also booked on outstanding warrants in relation to a domestic violence incident from April.

On Thursday, deputies arrested a second suspect, identified by the TPSO as 32-year-old Robert Blackwell, in connection with the investigation. He is being charged with obstruction of Justice.
