    Louisiana plantation in top 10 most haunted spots in the world, study says

    BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A Louisiana plantation was named one of the spookiest places in the world.

    Travel experts at Planet Cruise analyzed TripAdvisor data to uncover the globe’s most haunted destinations, with several US locations dominating the top 10. Louisiana secured the sixth spot with the Myrtles Plantation.

    The study used TripAdvisor ratings and the amount of reviews that mention “haunted,” “spooky,” and “scary.”

    The research said that Myrtles Plantation garnered 184 mentions of “haunted,” along with 68 “spooky” and 27 “scary” mentions.

    “This Halloween season, it promises an unforgettable spooky getaway for those brave enough to explore its ghostly history,” experts said.

    2. Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia
    3. Crumlin Road Gaol in Northern Ireland
    4. Bhangarh Fort in India

    6. Myrtles Plantation in Louisiana
    7. The Stanley Hotel, Estes Park in Colorado
    8. Bonaventure Cemetery in Georgia
    9. RMS Queen Mary in California
    10. Tower of London in London

    We spent the night in the main house of the Myrtles. I loved it! I did feel something stroke my foot during the night...it was not frightening, it was comforting. The next day I ugly cried when it was time to leave. I didn't want to leave. I have never done that before or since. I felt at home there.
