Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - For the second time in her professional career, Jessica Pegula is an Olympian.

It was announced Thursday that Pegula will make her way to Paris, France later this summer and be part of the U.S. Olympic tennis team.

At 30 years of age, Pegula is currently the Women's Tennis Association's (WTA) fifth-ranked player in the world. She joins fellow American female tennis star Coco Gauff (WTA No. 2), as well as Danielle Collins (WTA No. 11), Emma Navarro (WTA No. 17), and Desirae Krawczyk (WTA doubles No. 11).

Pegula will compete in both the singles tournament in Paris, and will also be paired with Gauff in the doubles tournament.

The daughter of Bills and Sabres owners Terry and Kim Pegula first competed in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics for Team USA after the event was postponed by a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She failed to advance past Day 1 of singles action, while she made it to Day 5 of doubles action with Bethanie Mattek-Sands.

The Paris Olympics get underway later this summer, starting July 26. The opening action for tennis gets going the very next day on July 27.
