Winona Post Covers Downtown Winona Hotel Groundbreaking
The groundbreaking ceremony for the 60 Main hotel-apartment project in downtown Winona was held by developers along with city officials and the Winona Area Chamber of Commerce and Winona Post was there to report. This project aims to boost local business and attract new residents. Key features include a mixed-use building with 24 apartments and 75 hotel rooms, of which 24 will be extended stay. The latter will cater to longer-term guests with amenities like kitchens and laundry services, filling a unique niche in Winona’s accommodation market. “That’s filling a need we don’t currently have in Winona,” said Dan Rivers, Operations Manager of Rivers Hospitality.
Owners of Anderson Farm speak out
(ABC 6 News) — The owners of Anderson Farms are speaking out against their dogs being taken from their property back in February. 15 dogs were seized from the Le Roy farm dog breeding operation over concerns that the dogs were being malnourished and living in kennels with urine and feces, according to court documents.

Last year the Animal Rescue League of Iowa rescued over 100 dogs from what they described as a puppy mill in Boone County. Now, the ARL says the breeder is no longer in operation and the rescue has taken in 46 more dogs from the property.
