The team behind Henri’s Bakery & Deli has acquired a Chamblee eatery known for its Buffalo, New York-style pizza and wings.

Renovations are now underway at Galla’s Pizza , which the team is revamping and refreshing, including a new logo and name: Galla’s Pizza & Tavern .

“I’m thrilled to build upon Galla’s legacy and bring fresh, new menu items to the table, all within a modernized, dine-in setting,” Anthony DiNardo , owner of Henri’s Bakery & Deli, said. “We’re adding an expansive bar that seats 20, and updating the interior to provide guests an inviting place to share a meal, grab a drink, and watch a game.”

Carryout and delivery services remain open during construction. Plans for a grand reopening are in progress.

Galla’s Pizza is known for its slate crust pizza, which is light and airy, yet crispy. The eatery is also known for its wings. The new restaurant will offer handmade pastas, fresh salads and sandwiches.

“Owning an Italian pizzeria has been a longtime dream of mine,” DiNardo said. “To embark on this new venture alongside close friends who share this passion has been incredibly rewarding. We can’t wait to welcome guests back in.”

Henri Fiscus established Henri’s Bakery in 1929. There are currently five locations – in Buckhead, Sandy Springs, the Upper Westside, Brookhaven and Peachtree Corners – with a sixth planned for Clayton . The Atlanta-born bakery also acquired The Grateful Bread Co. in Smyrna in July.
