Drifters Kitchen and Bar to Replace Idle Hour in Quincy

A new spot for classic American fare is coming to Quincy .

According to the Patriot Ledger (via a Boston Restaurant Talk report ), Idle Hour has transferred its liquor license to Drifters Kitchen and Bar , a new venture by Will Falaro of Broadway Restaurant Group .

The new eatery will focus on “elevated American classics,” with bar pizza as the star of the menu. Unlike the traditional 10-inch round pies popular on the South Shore, however, Drifters will serve 12-inch pizzas with a thinner, square-cut crust.

Located at 1464 Hancock St , the 2,241-square-foot bar and eatery will also feature other American staples, and possibly even a raw bar.

Falaro, who brings 18 years of restaurant experience to the project, will be joined by Andrew Moccia of Broadway Restaurant Group, as well as Nick Palermo , Michael Johnson , and Evan Harrington , the trio behind Quincy’s Liberty Tavern .

It’s still unclear when Idle Hour will officially close and Drifters will open, as Falaro is waiting for the state board to approve the liquor license transfer.

Once open, Drifters Kitchen and Bar will operate daily from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. After getting settled, the restaurant plans to introduce weekend brunch.
