A popular Burlington eatery known for its modern Vietnamese fare is preparing to launch a second site.

According to Boston Magazine , Việt Citron is expanding to Somerville . Chef Tran Lee , who co-owns the restaurant with her husband Howard , isn’t quite ready to share the exact location, but she told What Now Boston that it will be revealed in two weeks.

Việt Citron’s flagship spot serves up a creative mix of both classic and modern Vietnamese dishes. Traditional favorites like bánh mì, pho, and crispy pork belly are complemented by seasonal specials such as Bún Măng Gà—a 24-hour chicken bone broth served with rice vermicelli, free-range farm chicken (gà đi bộ), dried bamboo shoots, shiitake mushrooms, and other fresh ingredients.

The new Somerville site will offer a more intimate setting than its predecessor, with seating for just 10 guests. It will feature a rotating selection of popular dishes from the Burlington menu and double as an experimental test kitchen for new creations.

Beyond showcasing vibrant Vietnamese flavors, Lee hopes to foster a connection with Somerville’s “tight-knit and grassroots community,” according to Boston Magazine . She’s looking to attract bold, adventurous eaters who prioritize sustainability and champion local businesses.

Though slightly behind schedule, Lee told What Now Boston that Việt Citron Somerville is now on track to open by mid-November 2024.
