New Mediterranean Eatery Coming to Carolina Forest

Zeytin , a fresh Mediterranean breakfast and lunch eatery, is set to open in the Carolina Forest area at 224 Fresh Dr Unit A , adjacent to Lowes Foods.

Owned by Turkey native Umut Baris Balkis and his business partner, the duo brings valuable experience from the Myrtle Beach restaurant scene. They previously ran Bosphorus Grill, a restaurant offering Mediterranean-inspired lunch and dinner options, before selling it to fund their new venture.

The name ‘Zeytin,’ which translates directly to ‘Olive,’ carries deep personal meaning for Balkis. Originating from his hometown in Turkey and symbolizing peace, the word perfectly aligns with his middle name ‘Baris,’ which also means peace.

The forthcoming restaurant offers an extensive menu that includes French toast, omelets, waffles, crepes, breakfast sandwiches, Turkish flatbreads, soups, salads, lamb chops, and falafel.

In addition to its array of Mediterranean fare, Zeytin will feature a bar stocked with a diverse selection of beer, wine, and cocktails. The 3,000-square-foot space exudes a light and airy atmosphere, incorporating natural elements such as wicker, wood, and greenery.

While an exact opening date remains to be announced, the team is actively preparing the space to welcome customers in the near future. When it opens, Zeytin will operate daily from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
