Permits filed with the city indicate that Ye Ole Fashioned Ice Cream & Sandwich Cafe is gearing up to open its eighth Lowcountry location, situated at 830 Foundation St #102 in Charleston .

Spanning 3,341 square feet, the space will undergo an interior uplift, featuring indoor seating with booths, outdoor patio seating, and a designated standing/queuing area. Once complete, the cafe will accommodate up to 142 patrons. Based on the permits filed, it appears that the plans are still in the permitting phase and construction has not yet commenced.

Since its establishment in 1972 by founder Rod Lapin , Ye Ole Fashioned has become a beloved fixture in the Lowcountry. The original West Ashley cafe paved the way for expansion, with the brand now boasting six additional restaurants in the region. Notably, the two Summerville outlets are owned by Lapin’s son, Todd .

From its humble beginnings as a neighborhood eatery offering hotdogs and ice cream, Ye Ole Fashioned has evolved into a local culinary institution. The menu now features a diverse array of offerings, ranging from burgers, hot dogs, and chicken fingers to crinkle-cut fries, salads, and sandwiches. A standout favorite is the signature BLT sandwich, generously loaded with ten slices of bacon.

Stay tuned for further updates as construction progresses and an official opening date is announced.
