Port Royal’s Fat Patties to Close After 12 Years, Owner Teases New Restaurant Concept

A beloved burger joint in Port Royal is closing its doors.

After 12 years at 831 Parris Island Gateway , Fat Patties will serve its final burger on August 24, 2024.

Owner Nick Borreggine announced the closure on Facebook, stating, “We have made the difficult decision to close Fat Pattie’s.” He cited inflation, competition from his other business, and a need to diversify as reasons for the decision.

Fat Patties is known for its namesake juicy hamburgers, sandwiches, brats, ice cream, inventive sides, and local craft brews, including selections from Borreggine’s own brewery, Shellring Ale Works .

In addition to the popular brewery, which opened along the water in Port Royal a few years ago, Borreggine recently acquired Alvin Ord’s , a longstanding local sandwich shop.

Despite Fat Patties’ closure, Borreggine and his family have plans for the future. In the Facebook post, he hinted at a new concept: “Also keep an eye out for the new and exciting restaurant concept we are building from SCRATCH. Can’t wait for you to see what we have planned.”
