Southern Chain To Continue North Carolina Expansion, Permits Show

Fast-food chain Cook Out is continuing its North Carolina expansion, building permits show.

The chain has filed building permits for 2538 E. Lyon Station Road in the Durham area. The site used to be a bank, according to the Triangle Business Journal.

The construction will involve building a 1,881-square-foot location with a drive-thru.

The recent permits come in the wake of a flurry of action in the North Carolina market from the fast-food chain. It has been acquiring property throughout the state, with another recent acquisition at 9500 Strickland Road at a shopping center in Raleigh, where a Boston Market closed last November.

Its expansion plans across the Carolinas seem ambitious, with sites popping up throughout the past year, and more on the way based on property purchases. Earlier this year, Cook Out also announced spots in the Triad and permits have shown activity in Charlotte , as well, at 3704 W W.T. Harris Blvd.

The Southern chain, which serves classic burgers, hot dogs, chicken and shakes, has locations in 10 states across the South.
