According to a recently filed permit, the international Brazilian steakhouse chain Fogo de Chão looks to be making plans to open its first Ohio location, at 1425 Polaris Pkwy, in the former home of the now closed O’Charley’s restaurant. As detailed in the permit filing, work will be performed to remodel both the interior and exterior of the building that will include new equipment and finishes inside and exterior refacing that reflects the Fogo de Chão brand. The projected cost of the remodeling work is set at $1.5 million, according to the permit document.

As detailed on the restaurant’s website, the very first Fogo de Chão opened in 1979 in Brazil and opened its first U.S. eatery in Dallas in 1997. In the years since the eatery has expanded to locations in over 20 states, as well as restaurants located throughout Brazil, Mexico, Ecuador and Dubai.

The menu features a number of cuts of steak including porterhouse, sirloin, ribeye and strip, as well as chicken, lamb, pork and seafood such as smoked salmon, Chilean sea bass and shrimp cocktail. Sides that pair well with the various meats offered include garlic mashed potatoes, caramelized bananas and pão de queijo, which are warm, gluten-free cheesy rolls made with yucca flour and parmesan cheese. And, guests can complete their meal with dessert, with selections that range from molten chocolate cake, key lime pie and tres leches cake, to name a few of the offerings.

What Now Columbus reached out to a representative with Fogo de Chão to learn the anticipated opening date for the restaurant, but a request for comment wasn’t immediately returned.
