An acclaimed Ashburn restaurant is filling the hole left in Arlington by Booeymonger’s departure with delicious, authentic Nepalese food. The memorably named Himalayan Wild Yak will be opening in Ballston next year, reports local media outlet ARLNow .

The restaurant, previously slated to open this spring, will be opening at 1010 North Glebe Road. Owner Dipraj Magar originally intended to debut a new concept called Thakali Bhatti at the location, however altered course during the planning and permitting stages.

The Arlington Himalayan Wild Yak will closely mirror its Ashburn elder sibling. As the name suggests, the restaurant’s menu will prominently feature yak meat, an important element of Nepalese cooking. Himalayan Wild Yak strives to introduce its guests to a fully authentic Nepalese dining experience. The restaurant’s website explains its mission, stating “Our restaurant is a family restaurant, and we brothers intend to promote Nepal’s food and culture. From traditional Nepalese rice bread “Selroti” to plates with napkins made of Dhaka Cloth (a National Nepalese handmade garment fabric), Authentic Nepalese meals with YAK essence, exclusive Himalayan teas, to fine wines and cocktails, we want our customers to experience the taste and ambiance of Nepal.”
