Wood & Iron Gameday, the Richmond-based sports bar that has already charmed Virginia residents, is setting a course for Arlington. The beloved concept is bringing inviting atmosphere and delicious bites to Virginia Square next year, reports local media outlet ARLNow.

Wood & Iron will be opening in the newly erected Fuse at Mason Square building, located at 3401 Fairfax Drive. Co-owner Steve Rogge spoke with What Now DC about introducing Arlington to the established favorite. “We have been looking in Arlington for almost 2 years now and we were excited when the opportunity at the Fuse was presented.”, he says.

Rogge states that there will be no issues staffing Wood & Iron’s new location. “We have several current employees interested in relocating to Arlington, so we were excited to present this opportunity of growth to them. Also, the level of talented employees to draw from that live in the Arlington area was a big determinant of our site selection. The Clarendon/Virginia Square corridor has continued to grow into a bustling and lively area, so we are excited to be a part of that.”

Rogge and the Wood & Iron team are enthusiastic about helping launch the Fuse. He explains “The design of the building itself is incredible and we envisioned ourselves building off that. The fact that it is a brand-new building and not a second-generation retro fit is very appealing to us. It allows us to build the space exactly as we see fit to maximize aesthetics as well as efficiency from a business standpoint.”

The charm of the space isn’t simply limited to the indoors. “The expansive outdoor covered patio was also a draw that we couldn’t look past.” Rogge states, adding “We are really excited to be working with the management at FUSE and the entire George Mason team who have been fundamental in seeing that the prospects of the restaurant fit both of our visions.”

Arlington residents who are already fans of the restaurant’s great drink list, delicious menu, and inviting environment can look forward to enjoying more of the same. Rogge states that Wood & Iron has no intentions of altering its winning hospitality recipe in its newest home.

Future regulars, unfamiliar with the concept but eager for a sneak peak of what lies in store can look forward to a cozy and delectable night out. Rogge describes the Wood & Iron experience, saying “Wood & Iron Game Day is a dynamic, polished sports bar and restaurant that blends great food, a vibrant atmosphere, and top-notch sports entertainment. Known for its inviting ambiance and friendly staff, the restaurant offers a diverse menu featuring American classics, from juicy burgers and award-winning wings to fresh salads and signature dishes. Complementing the food is an extensive selection of craft beers, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages, catering to a variety of tastes.”

Arlington foodies still have a little while to wait before sampling Wood & Iron’s fare; Rogge says the restaurant will hopefully be opening in the second quarter of 2025.

Wood & Iron promises to become an Arlinton staple, offering a superior sports bar experience and a great deal more. Rogge sums it up, saying “The welcoming environment makes it an ideal spot for both casual dining and special gatherings, ensuring a memorable experience for every guest.”
