Famed Chicago chain Portillo’s has submitted plans for its first Colorado location, Westwood reported recently . The brand, which announced last year that it would be entering the state soon, is looking at a parcel at the intersection of 57th Avenue and Tower Road.

The Green Valley Ranch property is near the Denver International Airport. Portillo’s is seeking permission to build a 6,250-square-foot restaurant on the lot, which is a vacant site near Sprouts. Plans include a two-lane drive-thru, a 500-square-foot patio, and 98 parking spots.

It is to be part of a larger development project called Link 56 by Illinois-based Kensington Development. The 150-acre mixed-use center is in the predevelopment phase and will feature 30 acres of commercial space, 2,000 apartments, and designated open space.

Portillo’s is revered for its Italian beef Chicago-style hot dogs, and has a cult following that spans across the nation. The news of its pending arrival in Colorado has left locals eagerly anticipating its addition to the QSR scene here.
