Local winemaker Nathaniel Rose is working to operate a future auxiliary tasting room out of Lansing’s Rooted Socialite , a Kava bar located in Ste 104 at 9639 E Stockton Blvd . Rose told What Now Detroit that he was only waiting on the final approval of his liquor licenses before he could begin operations.

Suttons Bay- based Rose has been one of the hottest winemakers on the peninsula’s radar. Holding a degree in biochemistry from Western Michigan University, Rose took an innovative approach to winemaking and makes full use of what Michigan’s grapes have to offer in terms of shaping each wine’s flavor.

“None of my red wines undergo fining or filtering. Instead, the magic of proper time in barrel and carefully repeated racking bring out the clarity and brilliance,” Rose described his process on the Nathaniel Rose Wine website .

Friends with Douglas Crawford , owner of Lansing’s kava tea bar Rooted Socialite , Rose has been working on bringing the offerings of Nathaniel Rose Wine to the non-alocoholic bar in Lansing, and is at the tail-end of the liquor licensing process. Rose told What Now Detroit that once the license is approved, he would start with a “soft opening” by offering wine tasting on Sundays and Mondays, but eventually hopes to operate the location as an auxiliary tasting room for Nathaniel Rose Wine with regular offerings.

Rooted Socialite will continue to operate regularly without any changes to its existing offerings.
