Chef Sean Brock’s Joyland will be opening a West Nashville location at 4013 Charlotte Ave, according to recently filed permits.

Joyland first opened in East Nashville in 2020, serving twists on classics like burgers, biscuits and fried chicken. Menu highlights include the Crustburger, Joysticks (chicken on a stick with a Japanese fusion twist) and handmade-to-order shakes, according to the website.

“Joyland is an imaginative concept from James Beard Award-winning Chef Sean Brock inspired by the original fast-food restaurants of yesteryear,” the Joyland website states. “It was created out of Brock’s innate curiosity and extensive research and development, combining quick service and indulgence with the innovation and exploration he has experienced in some of the world’s best restaurants.”

Brock partnered with Nick Pihakis of Pihakis Restaurant Group and Southall Farm & Inn founder Paul Mishkin earlier this year to fuel the concept’s expansion. They have now opened a location in Birmingham, Alabama. What Now Charleston also reported that Joyland will be heading to Charleston with plans for the spot to open by the end of the year.

The new Joyland location in West Nashville was previously home to Hero Doughnuts, which is part of Pihakis Restaurant Group. The Charleston location is taking over a former Hero Doughnuts location, as well.

Brock has also been making changes in his other ventures, with a September announcement that he would be reimagining his tasting menu restaurant June .

At this time, it is unclear when the new Joyland location in West Nashville will open.
