Beignet Baton Rouge to Open Second Capital City Location

Known for its beignet sliders breakfast sandwiches, Beignet Baton Rouge is planning on opening its second Capital City location to meet growing demand.

Owner Darryl Hobdy recently told What Now New Orleans that the addition of lounge seating in the current location has been popular with customers, but relatively small kitchen has limited capabilities. He said the new location will have a bigger kitchen, and that will allow the new café to offer a larger menu that includes grits, homefries and other breakfast items. But for the most part, the new Beignet Baton Rouge location will replicate a winning formula.

“Eventually I’d like to open three, four or maybe five locations,” Hobdy said. “Maybe start franchising if it’s possible. I’m not sure if this model would be a good franchise, but that’s what I want to do.”

The new location on Perkins Road will see different traffic patterns than the original location, and Hobdy said he might close it in the early afternoon and then reopen in the evening to catch the rush hour traffic. With aspirations to grow the company further, Hobdy hoped more people will check out his locally-owned café, and possible become new regular customers.

“Come by and give us a try,” he said. “We do have a drive-thru and that works out for people looking to give us a shot.”
