Salad and Go Changes Plans Moving Forward

After announcing plans to build a new distribution center in metro Phoenix, Salad and Go has decided to change plans and invest in new locations.

The company previously submitted plans to the city of Surprise for a 100,000-square-foot food processing and cold storage facility on the southwest corner of Sweetwater Avenue and Litchfield Road, according to Phoenix Business Journal . Instead, the company has decided to invest its capital in new locations and reinvest and enhance its existing facility. Currently, the company operates out of its central kitchens, which are located in the Phoenix and Dallas-Fort Worth areas.

The company’s current distribution center in Phoenix, located at 625 S. 27th Avenue , is 49,000 square feet and serves all stores in Arizona and Nevada. Salad and Go opened its central kitchen in Gilbert in 2013 before moving to its current Phoenix location in 2017. Currently, the company has 144 locations in Nevada, Texas, Arizona, and Oklahoma, with 64 stores in Arizona. Although Salad and Go doesn’t have immediate plans for new industrial expansions, the company will continue evaluating new markets and infill opportunities for restaurants.

“The existing kitchen does give us the processing capability to meet not only our existing store base, but our future growth plan, so we’re comfortable at this point that we have the production capacity we need,” Bill Martens , chief development officer for Salad and Go, tells the Phoenix Business Journal. “Phoenix is a very large and critically important market for us. Our growth plans looking out over the next couple of years will include additional locations in the market.”
