Elvira’s DC Ranch Opening Late Next Month

Tubac’s long-time, family-owned fine dining restaurant, Elvira’s, is getting ready to open a new location in Scottsdale called Elvira’s DC Ranch at 20825 N Pima Rd.

The company’s second location will be a partnership between the original owner, Chef Rubén Monroy , and sommelier and restaurant developer Tom Kaufman , according to Tucson Foodie . Elvira’s DC Ranch will replace Jalapeno Inferno in late November , spanning two floors with 3,600 square feet of space. The restaurant’s extensive lunch and dinner menus provide the best Mexican fare in Southern Arizona. This will be the company’s second expansion following a short-lived attempt in Tucson.

This is an impressive achievement for the family-owned restaurant, which has been around since 1927. Monroy, the grandson of the founder of the restaurant, continues the company’s legacy by offering traditional dishes such as moles, squash blossom, quesadillas, and chiles rellenos, including one named after Frida Kahlo. Some fan favorites include Cuitlacoche and Chicken Tacos, Blistered Shishito Peppers, and Hazelnut Mole. The expansive drink selection includes tequila and mezcal, Mexican wines and beers, Margaritas made with mango, tamarind, and agave honey, and mojitos and guanabanatinis – martinis that use guanabana fruit, a fruit native to Mexico.

This new Scottsdale location will be an excellent site for Elvira’s, considering how many people visit the DC Ranch Marketplace throughout the year. The restaurant’s second location will sit next to Liberty Station—DC Ranch, becoming the only Mexican food option at the shopping center. Elvira’s DC Ranch will have limited competition, with Juan Jaime’s near Thompson Peak Park as the only other Mexican restaurant in the area.
