According to an article from Bridgetown Bites , Ken’s Artisan Bakery will soon expand at 320 NW 21st Avenue.

A representative of Ken’s Artisan Bakery was not immediately available to comment upon What Now Portland’s request.

While an official opening date has yet to be confirmed, according to the article, “Demolition on the site started in October 2023, with PKNW Construction at the helm. Their description of the project is straight and to the point: “Ken’s Artisan bakery is expanding next door.” PKNW said last week that they are “getting closer and closer to opening,” so my guess is that we are looking at sometime in October 2024.”

“As mentioned above, this location was home to Pizza Schmizza, which, according to Yelp, was there as far back as 2006 but with a reopening in 2010 after new owners took over. It looks like they closed in 2022, amid some unfortunate drama.”

Ken’s Artisan Bakery’s website adds “Ken Forkish opened Ken’s Artisan Bakery in 2001. Since then, the bakery has received national and international attention, having been named one of the best bakeries in the country by Food & Wine, Sunset Magazine, New York Post, Mental Floss, USA Today, Mashed, The Daily Meal , and others.”
