North Park Theatre Needs $150K for Cutting-Edge 4K Projector

The North Park Theatre in North Buffalo is reaching out to the community for support as it seeks to enhance the movie-going experience by upgrading to a 4K laser projector. Located on Hertel Avenue, the independent theatre is aiming to raise between $125,000 and $150,000 to cover the cost of the new projector.

Ray Barker, the theatre's program director, emphasized the financial challenge this poses for an independent venue like North Park. "Raising $150,000 is no small feat," Barker explained. "We'd need to sell around $300,000 to $400,000 worth of tickets, and that's not something that happens easily."

The current projector, nearly a decade old, is becoming outdated, and Barker stressed the importance of upgrading now before any major issues arise. The new 4K projector promises the highest resolution available, ensuring that the classic films regularly shown at North Park will look their very best.

Over the years, the North Park Theatre has undergone several restoration projects under Barker’s direction, including the restoration of stained glass and the renovation of the lobby to reflect its original 1920s design. Barker noted that while the theatre is committed to preserving its historic atmosphere, it also aims to incorporate modern technological conveniences.

Now, with the community's help, North Park Theatre hopes to take the next step in its ongoing efforts to offer a top-tier cinematic experience.
